I served as Press Secretary for the Chicago Public Schools on a 6 month assignment. My role also consisted of heading up social media, which was in it’s infancy at CPS, and developing the a new strategy for Internal Communications strategy with two colleagues in the communications department. Before I joined CPS, the district had no internal communications strategy. I worked with a small but effective team to launch Intercom, the electronic newsletter developed by the CPS Office of Internal Communications to serve the district’s more than 40,000 employees. Intercom aimed to put timely, interesting and relevant information on upcoming events, activities and opportunities in one place. The newsletter was well received and became the catalyst for a larger internal communications initiative.
